Meet THE ARTIST: Mikel Conrad
Mikel has lived in Henderson since he was 2 years old. He married the girl next door and together they raised their four kids in their hometown. Mikel's life time residency has allowed him to love and cherish his community. Mikel, along with his 3 sons are all Eagle Scouts. He has served in the scouting & young men's program within the LDS Church for over 35 years. He has a love for the outdoors, hiking, camping, fishing & doing landscape photography.
Mikel has served as the President of the Water St. District Business Association. As President, he worked with other small businesses to help them grow and succeed. Over the last several years, Mikel brought Small Business Saturday to Henderson and made it come to life. He brought attention to Water Street and all of its unique, local Ma and Pop shops. Mikel loves doing this event every year because it allows his neighbors, who work so hard to make their business thrive, finally get recognized on a local and national level. Mikel has also made his studio an official drop off location for the Toys for Tots program every holiday season for the past 8 years. He works with the local high schools and businesses to collect over 5000 toys for the children around the valley who are in need. Mikel has been serving his community throughout his entire life. This community has become family one person at a time. Everyone who walks through Mikel's door becomes an addition to his family.
Mikel worked as the main photographer and studio manager at Photography by Van in Las Vegas for 10 years. From there, Mikel opened his own studio, Mikel's Photography & Design, in 2004. Specializing in family, high school senior and executive portraits, in the studio or on location, Mikel is considered, by many, to be the BEST portrait photographer in the valley.
